Power:
My outlet is too far away. Can I use an extension cord?
Yes you may. The extension cord MUST have the third pin on it. This is for a safety ground. It helps to protect you from getting a shock if the equipment gets damaged or liquid spilled on it. Also, please try to use a heavy cord that is as short as possible. Do not use any cord that is damaged. If you know you will need one please ask. We have the proper cords available for rent.
Can I use a generator for an out door event?
Our equipment will work with some generators. However we prefer to avoid them. Please talk to us about using a generator before you do. We will want to know what make and model it is in advance. We may also want to check it for proper voltage and grounding. We recommend the Honda EU2000iA. It is very quiet and provides clean power. We can rent a proper generator if needed.
Why does the breaker for the outlet keep tripping?
Typically a sound and lighting system you rent from us will draw very little power. However, other items at an event my draw MUCH more power. This can include roasters, coffee pots, work lights, and heaters. A normal circuit can only provide so much power. Several outlets may be sharing a circuit. Typically all of the outlets on one wall or even in an entire room may be on one circuit. Some times outlets in two separate rooms may be on one circuit. This sort of problem can be hard to track down. First check what is plugged in and where. What else lost power? Move the plugs for some of those items to other circuits. A single roaster can take ALL of the available power from one circuit.
Setup location:
The speakers must be placed on the provided stands. These stands need to be on a firm level surface. Please be aware that the legs can be a trip hazard. Please take steps to keep them protected and out of the way. Sand and soft dirt are not acceptable and the stand could tip over causing some one to get hurt. They should be pointed at the audience.
The main mixer/amp unit should be on a sturdy table or counter. It should be protected from spills, bumps, and foot traffic.
Cables should be protected from foot traffic and tripping. Heavy rugs and mats that lay flat can work. Tape may be used. When using tape please remove as soon as possible and remove any sticky residue. Failure to do so may incur a cleaning charge.
The microphone should be placed behind the speakers or more than 15 ft in front of them. Use caution when setting levels. Turning up the microphone gain too high will result in feedback. If the system does not get loud enough before feeding back try the following:
Talk closer and louder to the microphone. You should be less than 3” from the microphone.
Move the microphone or speakers further away from each other.
Watch out for reflective surfaces such as glass, brick, plaster, or canvas walls and pillars.
Lighting:
The lights we provide are LED based units. They stay cool to the touch and are safe near most decorations. Please keep the cables neat as they can create a trip hazard. Cables should be protected from foot traffic and tripping. Heavy rugs and mats that lay flat can work. Tape may be used. When using tape please remove as soon as possible and remove any sticky residue. Failure to do so may incur a cleaning charge.
Aiming the lights is an art form. Treat this like you would any other decoration. They can be used to accent some other decoration or may be the center piece. We recommend not pointing directly at the crowd as this can be blinding and distracting. Try pointing them at a white or light colored ceiling, wall, or floor. When renting them from us please ask if you want some ideas for your space. We also have several mounting options depending on your needs.
